Origins & Training
Adlène Hicheur was born on December 4, 1976, in Setif, Algeria. He held both French and Algerian nationalities until 2018, when he renounced his French citizenship in order to leave France. His academic journey was marked by excellence: he obtained a master's degree in theoretical physics from the prestigious École normale supérieure de Lyon, one of France's most elite institutions.
He continued his education at the Annecy-le-Vieux Laboratory of Particle Physics, where he prepared a doctoral thesis in collaboration with the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center in the United States, working on the BaBar experiment. His thesis, successfully defended on April 11, 2003, focused on the production of high-energy eta prime mesons in B meson decays, demonstrating his mastery of advanced concepts in particle physics.
Scientific Career
Adlène Hicheur's scientific career is characterized by his involvement in leading international research projects:
- Post-doctoral position at the prestigious Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in England, where he contributed to research on the ATLAS detector of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)
- Researcher at the Department of High Energy Physics at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, working on the LHCb experiment at CERN
- Lecturer for physics students at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne
- Researcher at CERN in 2009
After an interruption in his career due to legal difficulties, he resumed his scientific activities in Algeria, where he was appointed professor at the University of the Mentouri Brothers in Constantine. In 2018, the research group he leads at the Laboratory of Mathematical Physics and Subatomic Physics (LPMPS) rejoined the LHCb (Large Hadron Collider beauty) experiment at CERN, reflecting the international community's recognition of his scientific expertise.
